Nadia and Carol

Nadia Comaneci was born on November 12, 1961, in Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej (now Onesti), Romania. Nadia is the Romanian Olympic gymnast and she is the only person to be awarded 10/10 marks at an Olympic competition. Bela Karrolyi is the Romanian gymnastics instructor who was later Comaneci's coach who first came across Comaneci when she was just six years old. Comaneci competed for the first time in the national junior championships. She finished 13th. Following that, she was crowned champion. She won three golds in her debut competition at a junior Olympic meet in 1972 that was held by communist bloc countries. Between 1973 and 1974, she became the junior all-round champion. At her first competitive event at a senior level Lyudmila Turkishcheva of Russia won five gold medals as well being awarded a silver. She was the winner of the American Cup at the New York City Olympics. She also became the first woman in history to dismount the parallel bars with a double backward salto. Her path into the entertainment industry began during her teens when she started skating figure alongside her younger twin sister Nina Wayne as part of the touring entertainment show known as Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne born 6 September 1942 in Chicago Illinois US. Carol started her professional career as an entertainer during her teenage years. When she was a child, she began performing as an ice skater with Nina Wayne in the travelling show of entertainment Ice Capades. Ice Capades featured performances of skaters ice skating with actors.
